It feels like a lifetime ago, but I still vividly remember that summer

It feels like a lifetime ago, but I still vividly remember that summer my Boyfriend I had been dating for six months broke up with me. I was devastated. I was alone. I had become completely anti-social.

My friends got used to me declining their offers to go out, so it's not a surprise eventually I stopped being invited. When I finally was ready to go out and move on, there was nobody around so I found myself sitting at home watching TV. Until one day, I saw a commercial that caught my interest.

I had never really looked into dating sites, the idea of meeting strangers frightened me to be quite honest. If I was too scared to have coffee with him, what were the chances of him being 'the one' for me, right? But this one commercial caught my interest. It didn't have those supermodels on it that made every single average woman feel self conscious about herself. It didn't have those obviously fake acted dates played out. It had normal people, having a simple lunch together and seeming to have a decent time.

I signed up. I was nervous. It took me a little while to set up my profile but I eventually finished, and when I did I was content. But then the content feeling quickly turned into worry as I found no offers for a date. Was I so pathetic even an internet guy wouldn't ask me out? Time passed slowly, and I found myself no longer being nervous for a proposed date but waiting for it in anticipation.

And then it came. "Hi there, I came across your profile. I really enjoy the view of the city at night also, and I see we have a lot in common. And if I say so myself, you're quite stunning. Please feel free to read my profile and get back to me. I'd love to meet."

My heart was thumping. But I clicked on his profile and saw we did in fact have a lot in common. He was quite stunning himself. I immediately agreed to meet him.

We ended up Dating for a short while, and he was a lovely boyfriend. But we quickly found that we made better friends then a couple.

However, the experience opened me up to finding dates online. I have had many amazing experiences with a crazy amount of simply Stunning people I would have never otherwise had the opportunity to meet. I eventually had a boyfriend I met online, that turned into my loving husband of 2 years.

I encourage anyone to try it at least once, because you never know. You might just find 'the one'.
